Easy switch, good phone

Switched from another carrier and got a Samsung Galaxy. The whole thing was pretty simple, no real fuss. Phone came quick. Service has been fine, no dropped calls or anything. I'd use them again.

Decent service, smooth setup

I ordered a prepaid SIM card and a Motorola Moto G from Cricket's website. The order processed quickly, and I got a shipping notification within a day. The package arrived in about 4 days here in Florida. Activation online was straightforward; just followed the steps with the SIM kit. The phone itself works fine, nothing fancy, but it gets the job done for the price. I've had good 5G coverage in most places I've been. Customer support was helpful when I called about setting up my voicemail, took maybe 10 minutes to get through.

So happy with my new phone!

I switched to Cricket Wireless last month and got a new Google Pixel. It was practically free with their switch deal! The setup was super easy, and my service has been great. I'm telling all my friends about it, and I'm definitely going to get my family on a plan here soon!

Good value, minor snag

I recently signed up for an unlimited phone plan and brought my own iPhone. The online process for transferring my number was mostly smooth, though it took a bit longer than I expected, probably 24 hours for the port to complete. The plan itself is a good value, especially with the autopay discount. Coverage has been reliable, comparable to what I had before. My only real gripe is that their website could be a little more intuitive for managing account settings; I had some trouble finding where to add an international long distance add-on.

Thinking of switching to Cricket, but my iPhone 11 is unlocked from Verizon. Can I just pop in a Cricket SIM or do I need a new phone?

R Rachel Moore 3 weeks ago
Yeah, you should be able to keep your phone. They have a thing on their site where you can check if your device is compatible. I did that with my old Samsung and it worked fine.

As long as it's unlocked and compatible with AT&T's network, you're usually good to go. Cricket uses AT&T's towers so if your Verizon phone works on that, you're set. You might just need their SIM kit.

What's the return policy like if I buy a phone online and decide I don't like it? Is it a pain to send back?

D Daniel Perez 3 weeks ago
I returned a phone once, it was pretty straightforward. Had to mail it back within 7 days, I think? Just make sure it's in new condition.

They have a return window, it's usually around a week or two. You gotta make sure everything is in the original packaging and not damaged. They might charge a restocking fee though, so double check that part of their policy.

Hey, thinking about getting that 'free phone when you switch' deal. Is it actually free or are there hidden fees or anything?

J Josh Sanchez 2 weeks ago
It's usually pretty legit. I got a 'free' phone a while back, just had to pay the first month's plan and activation. No weird hidden stuff after that.

They're generally legit, but read the fine print. Sometimes it's like a specific phone model, or you have to stay with them for a certain number of months. But the phone itself is $0 up front, yeah.

Does anyone know if Cricket Wireless does any kind of military discount? My husband is active duty and we're trying to save some money.

D Daniel Nguyen 3 days ago
Pretty sure they do! I saw something about it on their FAQ page when I was looking at plans. It's usually a small monthly discount.

Yeah they do offer one. My buddy used it. You usually have to verify your military status, like with ID.me or something similar. Check their site for the exact details on how to apply for it.

how's Cricket's coverage around Houston? I'm in the Heights area and thinking about making the jump from T-Mobile.

S Sam J. 3 weeks ago
I'm in Sugar Land and it's been great for me, 5G mostly. Since they use AT&T's network, if AT&T is good in your area, Cricket usually is too.

My sister lives near downtown and hasn't had any issues. Calls and data are solid. I'd say try it out, you can always switch back if it's bad.
